I expected more. At first I want to say, that I finished this title at PS4 version, but I don't think it changes much, because I'm mainly dissapointed with the story mode. Also I played this game like a year ago, so I dont remember it all well. **SPOILER ALERT** It was interesting at the beggining, but more I played I felt like I don't have real choices in the game. In my first playthrough I died because people roasted me, and that's fine, you have to be careful with your public opinion and cases at court. I finished completly my second playthrough and I figured out that I hate this game. Even if you have great relations with your family, the game decides to mess up your relations to fit in the storyline. There is some "catharsis" plot and the narrator says something like "you are just a puppet in "god"(he mean the player) hands. Confess, when was the last time you have read all the evid…
Worth a Playthrough. Others have said it better, but here's my two cents. The court system is really good, and you actually have to think about the evidence, and its meaning in the case. If you get all the connections right, you have an opportunity to sway the jury to the outcome you want with your questions, which may or may not line up with the wants of the various political factions you need to appease to avoid placing your head next in line for the guillotine. Alternatively, you can execute (or set free) literally everyone who enters your courtroom, damn the consequences. It really makes you feel like a Revolutionary Tribunal judge. To bring it all home, the art style is striking and unique, and gives a depth above what you'd expect at a glance. There's a reason nearly every review calls the game beautiful. Are there issues? Yeah. The audio during long cutscenes would consistently gl…
Good till it isn't.. So, I initally really liked this. You play as a revolutionary judge during the Terror in revolutionary France, and it's a decent, if not particularly in depth simulation of the madness of that time. Very quickly your priority becomes preserving your own hide rather than meting out justice, and it honestly becomes pretty chilling how coldly you find yourself distorting the very concept of justice for each trial. The verdict is almost always decided within a few moments of the trial beginning and you seeing how the various factions breathing down the back of your neck feel about the possible outcomes, actually giving the defendant an in depth cross examination is usually not even worth the time as it could influence the jury and put them at loggerheads with you. To add to this, the character you play as is, to put it nicely, a social climing viper, and as the game prog…
