Way too few choices. The description of the game should have started with the last paragraph, because it describes (almost) fully what to expect from it. It IS text heavy (which is not a problem, though I was genuinely surprised how much text I've read through after reloading a save and using the "skip" option). The images it features are drawn nicely, but there are only so many (about seven characters + backgrounds). The story is interesting and brutal, if a bit short (2-3 hours worth). For all those, the game could still have been good. Unfortunately, it is let down by the number and weight of choices the player is allowed to make. I haven't counted, but I would be very surprised it there were more than 20 screens in the game which asked for user input. Not only that, these choices mostly have no consequence, and only affect the next few lines of dialogue. In the end, there are no bran…
Fantastic Experience. Every so often the visual novel genre gives me a real gem of an experience. That was the feeling I had after finishing The Falconers: Moonlight today. It has great cinematics at the beginning and the art is top notch. It has a very good style to it that almost strikes a steampunk kind of vibe. The choices you are presented with are of a good amount and give you a good amount of feeling of control of the story. That’s another great part of the game was the great story. I was almost waiting for it to veer off into more typical VN fare where the protaganist falls in love or has sex with one of the secondary characters in a throw away meaningless manner but the game stays focussed on the characters, their motivations, their histories and having a good twist or two instead. I played The Falconers: Moonlight on Linux. It didn’t crash once. It allowed manual saves and had…
I really enjoyed it!. It's too short, but the setting and drawings are awesome. Normally hate VNs, this is the first one I've ever actually purchased and wasn't given, but I'm really happy with this purchase. Definitely pick it up if you can get it. I want to support the creators because they clearly have a vast universe in mind, and given a bit of time I feel like this game here would only be the tip of the iceberg.
Short, linear but engaging & interesting. This is a pretty different take on the VN style, especially in its visual identity. It does have its flaws (only 3 hours of gameplay, alternate choices that don't really matter) But it is nevertheless a good experience. I suggest getting it while it's on sale. The universe is pretty grim and brutal, which really reminded me of The Witcher. I am pretty sure this is no coincidence because the setting is basically the same. And I am not saying it like it's a defect, because it is done efficiently and doesn't feel like a rip-off. It feels like playing a VN spin-off the Witcher series on a far-west setting. It's nice. The plot holds enough mystery, suspens, reveals and twist so that it is engaging, entertaining and somewhat thrilling. Not a masterpiece but definitely worth a few hours and a few . I hope there will be more episodes.
