Finally bundled with the correct wrapper. Since many people complained about cnc-ddraw being bundled with this game (which does not support D3D rendering and thus locked the game at a 640x480 8 bit software rendered mode), GOG finally listened and replaced it with narzoul's DDrawCompat, so you can finally play this game at a decent resolution and with proper rendering without having to replace the wrapper yourself. As for the game itself, it is decent top down shooter that plays almost like a contemporary boomer shooter (those who played Shadowgrounds will find its control scheme is almost identical to this game), altough some of the controls will need rebinding to play like a more modern game. My advice: reduce the ingame sensitivity of the y mouse axis to 0 (otherwise it causes your character to move forward or backward when you try to use the mouse to turn), set the movement controls…
Raven Software, hallowed be thy name. The quote is from a Civvie 11 review, a true connoisseur of FPS games that shows the appropriate respect to legendary Raven Software when mentioning them. Raven Software also created Hexen II and Soldier of Fortune - Wishlist them and buy them! One of their hidden gems is Take No Prisoners, not a masterpiece but different, original and relatively open. Solving the game without a walkthrough is an achievement in itself, good ole' fashioned hard. The game is fun and the gore is over-the-top on purpose. The world is open (with a main hub, Hexen-like), the variety of weapons+items+enemies is v.good and looks good considering this was a time when 640X480 was the highest resolution available - see the comment about dgvodoo2 and implement it. I bought it after playing it 2~3 decades ago and I have zero regrets 5/5.

Old Top down shooter. Story starts after a nuklear war in a city filled with mutants. Graphics are old but detailed enaught to be still nice. The world is relative big for its era. Feels good to explore it. Fast action. Great game play. When it was new I only had the demo from a Pc Magazine and I am happy to play this game now.
