Strategic Command: WWII - War in Pacific. Great game play and graphics, but gave 4/5 stars due to below. The game has too much unused map space -- map needs to be more hexes of 'action' area. Also, need more unit 'action' for allies in beginning other than China -- also, when I play allies, I really don't want to play Communist China's turn -- that and USSR should be set to NPC, IMO.
Furrryyyyyy!. Oh Fury Software, how I love thee. They have made a few of my favorite games of all time.. their WW1 game is one of the best turn based hex strategy games I have ever come across and one of my favorite games of all time... War in Europe is another masterpiece, and while a bit more of a boardgame than a simulation, World at War is an absolute classic and still their most popular game.. as all Fury fans know, things have been getting a bit interesting as of late! These games are still very fun but are getting less and less realistic as they grabble more abstract fronts/wars. The American Civil War game is an odd sandbox, where instead of troop build ups leading to short battles, everything gets drawn out and meanders into WW1/2 style fronts that last for months on end. A missed opportunity. Strategic Command is a decent game, but it has limited replay value and many of its mechanics are intentionally simplified. Many World War II strategy games overcome this through active modding communities. Unfortunately, Strategic Command does not. For years I assumed the small modding community and lack of community content meant the editor was difficult to use. After finally trying it, I discovered the opposite. The editor is remarkably approachable, the event system is flexible, and implementing new mechanics is far easier than I expected. I started by fixing a broken version of an existing mod for my own games. As the project grew, I naturally assumed I'd eventually share it with the community. That's when I discovered the community's attitude toward derivative work. Many long-time forum members—the forums being the primary place where Strategic Command mods ar…
Bogus game.. I parked 5 battleships and 3 destroyers plus one light cruiser next to Akagi. I also attacked it with airstrikes from Hornet. Akagi sank one battlship and one destroyer and got away. Totaly bogus. I don't think I destroyed one Japanese unit of any kind the entire time I played.
