Why didn't I trust the reviews?. I got into this sub-genre of RPGs with Syphony of War and Dark Deity. Those games were OK, so when I saw Rise Eterna, I decided to give it a try despite the warnings in the reviews. That was a mistake. The dialogues are awful, just really bad. I was annoyed by the writing from the very first dialogue between the two protagonists - Lua and Natheal. But somehow, it got even worse as I continued playing. If someone told me the game was written by a 15 year old who thinks reading is dumb and this was their first attempt at writing anything, I would absolutely believe it. The story is also pretty stupid to be honest. I can live with a story full of cliches, but the way this one unfolds just made me shake my head in disbelieve. So the writing and the story are extremely bad, but at least the gameplay is good, right? Nope. The character progression system is bla…
Basic, nothing advanced or interesting. Dialogues are lame, the characters actions and reactions make no sense and a plain boring system without barely any uniqueness of characters
Barebones SRPG. I got it on a sale, if you wanna give it a shot, wait for a sale too. It's a mindless 3-6 hours speedrun, lacks basic SRPG elements. The story is extremelly bland, the characters forgetable, the gameplay is as basic as it can get (even NES Fire Emblems have more depth) and the music is just there, the art is fine and the skill "tree" is a joke.
Good time, Nostalgic vibes. Makes me nostalgic for Fire Emblem. Its a great game.
