no rebinds, terrible fov, iffy saving. linear ~15-hour console-friendly rpg with small corridor-room-corridor maps, the specialty of spiders, though this was only partially their doing, they worked with cyanide. it's styx's first adventure, as master of shadows (by cyanide on their own) came out second, but is set before this, yet should be played after. you're controlling 2 characters here, one stealthy, the other aggressive, if both go down, it's game over. there's manual saving over 50 slots, quick save/load and autosaves whenever but can't save during combat, always a bummer. non-rebindable controls, at least 1 star off, 3 unskippable logos on every startup (can be replaced with dummy files for instant loading), and for some reason the game starts in portuguese of all languages and there's no way to change it once it's running. either start with a command line parameter or delete oth…
Great story, repetitive gameplay. This game has a turn-based combat system (in order to choose anything other than 2 skills you have to go into "pause", you also queu them) where you only control 2 characters, pair that with a very limited variety of enemies and it gets repetitive quickly. It has some basic stealth in order to make some fights easier, but it's clearly just a complement. It is also very linear with little to discover and choices only lead to different loot, other than one that has gameplay consequences. With all that said, I had fun: - Great "buddy cop" story where you learn about both protagonists pasts. The worldbuilding its pretty good too. - Good production for the budget: there is visual variaty, it has some jank but the art direction is solid. writing is really bad. Story is weak at best... for it being on sale and you are bored it might be worth a look at I played Styx and wanted to learn the back story... Game play wow it is clunky at best it's not smooth so I can't tell if this is suposed to be a sneaking game or hack / slash or what...
Time for some testosterone!. Of Orcs and Men is another very focused game from the brilliant AA studio Spiders, that sets out to tell a manly story about war, with all the brutality it entails. The characters are interesting, the dialogue is brilliant at times, and the world building is pretty good. The combat isn't that bad, but it could've been better with more control over how the non-controlled character behaves. The gearing is another problem, since you could find a really good pair of pants early on that's better than anything else you're ever going to find. It's a pretty weird design. One of the biggest letdowns is that if you wipe on the final boss, you have to do the whole last part all over again, and you can't even skip all the cinematics... so I just switched to "Easy" to get it over with. All in all, another decent title that's obviously worth picking up on these crazy sales…
