For me, it was a total mispurchase.. I was hoping to buy a great detective adventure—visiting crime scenes, examining clues, digging through documents, collecting evidence, and finally bringing the culprit to justice. And all of that in the atmosphere of the TV series Fargo. The German description of the game made it sound like that, too. But what I got was some bizarre mystery/horror/creepy nonsense. When I found the body at the beginning and the character just picked up the weapon, I thought: "OMG WTF! Don’t touch the murder weapon with your bare hands! It needs to go to forensics and then into the evidence locker! How is this supposed to hold up as evidence now?" Ten minutes later, when I realized what kind of game this actually was: "Will I eventually find a laser gun and start shooting at spaceships to stop them from abducting our cows?!" I did finish the game, but I didn’t have any…
...what exactly are we doing here, Jim?. This certainly is a promising-looking game which unfortunately turns out to not quite know what it wants to be. At a first glance, what we have is a detective mystery, a crime. Yeah, well, forget about that - if you're expecting to be chasing an actual killer you better be prepared to sink below-surface into supernatural stuff and ending up being chased (within an inch of your life) by an unwelcome, surreal foe at the end. As crime mystery, this works... extremely poorly. On the other hand, don't expect to investigate things at a leisurely pace - because the game ALSO wants to be a survival simulator, threatening to freeze you to death every five minutes - except it's not doing that seriously either, because you CAN stay warm fairly easily as long as you're a log-goblin, hoard every log, match and firestarter you can find, and light a fire everywh…
