Too much pseudo-science and hatespeech. In this game, you're main goal as a player is to track down the leaders of a terrorist organization and put them behind bars. The game is designed in the style of a visual novel for the most part. Here's what's good about it and what isn't: Good: - The art-style of the game is appealing, if you like black-and-white comics. - The music is well-done, laid-back and trippy. It compliments the dark and somewhat resigned atmosphere of the game. - Some interrogations of alledged terrorists and their supporters - which make up the core game-play loop - feature a countdown, creating a sense of urgency. Bad: - The game frequently confronts the player with all sorts of extremist views, from ultra-leftist to hardcore-right-wing. These are ultimately blended into one twisted, hateful terrorist ideology. It's disturbing content, to put it plain and simple. - Vio…
More social engineering. A leftist fantasy of chasing down a thinly veiled "alt-right", along with a hot-blooded chicana FBI agent Berkeley psychologist and a super-smart non-gender-binary they/them, set in an alternative reality where all the things millenial libs love are the absolute norm of humantiy, to be defended - even *gasp* at the cost of ethics - against all their cunning bogeymen which are totally real.
An immersive rough diamond. A thoroughly enjoyable concept. Most of the interrogations are very well-crafted and tense. If you crave detective games, you'll likely love it. Keep in mind some rough edges. At times the interrogations can get tedious as you click through dialogue trying to find where a new option has opened up. It also played in some sort of fast forward mode on my computer that I couldn't figure out how to stop and meant the animations were hectic and some cutscenes were skipped through.
Good premise, so-so gameplay. I enjoyed the narrative and really liked the art style in this game, but the gameplay got on my nerves in the end. I only finished it because it is so short and I was almost at the end, otherwise I might have DNF'ed this. In principle, the idea that you have to make thoughtful decisions about what to say and when – so that you either gain the trust of the person you’re questioning or intimidate them – really appeals to me, and I enjoyed it throughout maybe two-thirds of the game. Towards the end, though, interrogations became so tricky that one wrong dialogue option or one wrong order of questions could leave you in a dead end, and that’s when the downsides of this gameplay mechanic hit, because once I needed to repeat an interrogation for the second or third time, I wasn’t really paying attention to the dialogue anymore, but mostly remembering what worked a…
