Liked it very much. TL;DR; Goetia is an underrated, story-rich point&click that avoid many pitfalls of the genre while providing memorable story, as long as you’ve made the choice to invest in the story. --- For the price, it’s excellent. When in promotion: basically a steal. However, I need to emphasize this: if you do invest in the story, read everything, take actual notes, this is a very nice and well-crafted game (with few exceptions below). If you play without intellectual efforts: you’ll probably feel the puzzles makes no sense. Beautiful, if flawed. This game is wonderfully strange and melancholy. A dark fairy tale with some deliciously different puzzle solving. While this is mostly intriguiing and satisfying it is also occassionally so open ended and obtuse that you can end up wandering aimlessly for a long time. One or three of the puzzles are a bit nasty, some of the clues are red herrings, misleading, or nearly inscrutable. A walkthrough is relatively shameless in some of these instances depending on your amount of patience. I would likely not have seen the ending without one, which would have been a shame since this game really does have a beautiful if grim aesthetic and tells a curious tale indeed.
Tolle Atmosphäre – aber schwer. Vielleicht ist es mit gutem Englisch einfacher – so aber ist es ein Kampf – es gibt viele Informationen und diese sind häufig sehr wichtig um etwas herauszufinden und zu schaffen. Die Atmosphäre, Spielidee und Umsetzung sind top aber so dann doch einen Stern weniger.
Flawed but Worthwhile. Warning for possible VERY mild spoilers. I am a seasoned adventure gamer who loves solving puzzles, but I could not finish this without a walkthrough. Because I used a walkthrough, I got the good ending. Unfortunately, the good ending actually explains less than the bad ending, so I had to watch both to understand what I had just played. I really enjoyed learning about the brothers and their mother, and I felt very invested in their story. The direction the story went for the ending, however, ruined it a little for me. I won't say more than that I was disappointed in the resolution. HOWEVER, there is a lot in this game to love. The music, the art direction, and many of the puzzles were all highlights for me.
