Amazing game, imperfect port. Clock Tower is an amazing horror game. Despite the point & click controls and the age (originally released on the SNES) it manages to create a creepy atmosphere and has plenty of scares. While a handful of situations are perhaps a bit goofy due to the technical limitations, the game is a true gem. Some of the death scenes are masterpieces, and will live vividly in my memory for a long time. This version has a series of cool bonuses: a well-made, animated intro with an alternative version of the main theme; interviews with the creator; common features for emulated games like saving anywhere and rewinding, option to play the original version or the rewind version (which features a mix of minor gameplay changes, content from the PS1 release and some unreleased content as well, I believe). There are a few other extras, but I figure theses are the most important…
A worthy revisiting of the IP. I was initially skeptical on what would be done with the original Clock Tower these days. This Port + as they call it was overall a great effort. You get the original as well as the rewind mode which feels like the stalker cat & mouse formula fully realized. In the rewind mode Scissorman follows you everywhere with complete fluidity and can appear randomly now. As mentioned the classic 1995 version is still available as well if you want to experience the original experience.
Pretty fun. I was surprised by how much I liked it. I thought it would be too dated for me (even though I like older games), but honestly, it holds up really well! Well worth the price.
Recommended if you are a fan of hiding. I appreciate what the developers have done to help preserve this game. It is an important game that holds a place in the history of survival horror. It was a a first step on the road to Resident Evil. It's also an awesome homage to the films of Dario Argento especially Susperia and Phenomina with Jennifer Connelly. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan of hiding all the time.
