Period piece point and click adventure. A period piece is pretty rare in gaming and as someone who enjoys learning about history this was definitely a factor in getting me to try it out. You get to play as Alfie Banks, a talented and ambitious real estate agent who seeks to make his fortune in the Miami real estate boom of the 1920's. A Golden Wake is a adventure game with simple but colorful graphics, a nice soundtrack and well-done voice acting which really helps to immerse you in the era. The story is well-told following the standard adventure game formula using inventory items to solve puzzles. In addition to this however, there are several mini-games and logic puzzles present as well. For example, a puzzle involves you taking the profiles of 5 homebuyers and matching them with homes that suit their wants and budgets. Most underrated title. It's so incredibly immersive, engrossing, intuitive, well designed, well written, this is the pinnacle of point and click games. I have been playing non-stop for 2 days, can't do anything else. This is the lesson to always ignore the online reviews written by autistic infants.

A unique topic for an adventure game. This game was a nice change of pace from the usual adventure game settings. No aliens, no monsters, no magic or supernatural powers. Just people, and for the exception of Alfie who we play, people who actually lived. The story moves along at a fairly casual clip and only a couple of scenes where one needs to take quick action. Granted, this might cause some to lose interest, but I personally appreciated the unrushed, relaxed pace. Would definitely recommend especially for those new to the adventure genre.
